Seeking original architectures we prepare and investigate the reactivity of new metalloligands based on heterofunctional oxamate ligands. Beyond the advantages mentioned above regarding the oxamate group, using ligands that bear an additional function (coordinating, chiral, redox, steric…) represents an efficient synthetic route for the preparation of multi-functional materials.
For example, adding a different coordinating group (carboxylate, hydroxyl, pyrazolate…) to an oxamate ligand it will be possible to increase the connectivity of the building block and/or to dissociate the coordinating sites reactivity. A higher connectivity is of relevance for the preparation of 3D networks combining magnetic properties and porosity as potential sensors. Combining different types of coordinating sites would favour the preparation of 3d-4f systems and the obtention of magnetic luminescent porous materials.
