Abstract :
We target the design of two-dimensional functional coordination networks at the nanoscale in the form of few and single layers. The synergy between the electronic structures of the organic ligands and the metal ions confined in two dimensions may lead to non-magnetic semi-conductors with tunable gaps or half metals suitable for spintronic applications. Introducing metal ions that may undergo a spin crossover when submitted to external stimuli such as light, temperature or pressure brings bistability and opens the possibility to design nanometric smart sensors. After the elaboration of the films and their characterization, we aim at building devices to evaluate their potential for several applications.
