Synchrotron beamline CRISTAL

CRISTAL is an undulator-based diffraction beamline, dedicated to single crystals and powders between 4 and 30 keV.

X-ray diffraction is one of the most powerful methods for structure determination.

CRISTAL is a high-performance undulator-based beamline providing state-of-the-art techniques such as coherent diffraction, time-resolved diffraction, high angular and high spatial resolution diffraction.

The three instruments are:

  • A 2circle powder diffractometer equipped which multi-analyzers
  • A 4circle diffractometer for precise high-q measurements
  • A 6circle diffractometer, offering an exceptional experimental potential.

Time-resolved pump-probe experiments are operational at the picosecond resolution, and soon at the femtosecond resolution

A broad scientific community initiated this beamline in complementarity with ESRF.

Access conditions

Access to SOLEIL beamlines is open to scientists coming from all over the world. SOLEIL deals with proposals submitted by scientists from academic institutions as well as researchers and engineers from commercial organisations and private companies. Access may be of two kinds:

  • Free of charge for users whose results are open for publication (mandatory) and whose proposal has been evaluated by a Peer Review Committee.
  • With charge for admission for users requesting rapid access and/or confidentiality without peer review process and keeping the proprietary of their results.
